Literally. With my feet. Because I'm sick of being a lardass.
I'm going to join one of those 24-hour no-commitment $9/month gyms - my neighbor goes every day, said I should go with him.
I'm gonna kick this thing in the posterior. My goal? Eventually, I'd like to get back down to 140 or so. I know carrying's gonna be a pain once we start since I'm such a danged tubbo right now.
I've got a minimum of 40 pounds to lose. I'm gonna do this right. I'm not gonna quit.
I can't quit.

I went to the gym this morning myself, but can we wait to start the proper eating until after memorial day? Too many crabs to eat and too much beer to drink!!! :-)
There's no better time to start than now, for me. I could have waited for a nicer day, or I could have gone out tomorrow morning instead of now. I'm sick of putting it off to tomorrow. I'm sick of my excuses.
I'm normally a great support for my wife. She complained about me supporting her weight loss, though - at no point did I ever consider her to be fat.
"I need to lose 50 pounds."
"Um, no you don't. You are fine."
Apparently I wasn't helping.
Like Keads said: Goo Luck!
:-P
North - Chris and I have both known for quite some time that the weight needs to come off, but I've been dragging ass on it. It's HARD to get motivated, it's HARD to get out there, and I just plain didn't want to do it...but yeah, if she knows the weight needs to come off, agreeing with her (gently) really is the best course of action. ;)
And thanks to both you and Keads.
Good luck!
I have been an on/off gym user. It's not convenient for me distance- or time-wise, so I still have the membership (Planet Fitness) but haven't been in a couple months.
Fortunately, BBHIS is helping my belt tighten up. Five to seven hours of walking and tossing lumber three to five nights a week...
My whole problem with gyms: usually I have no one to go with me, and I absolutely WILL NOT go alone. The cheapy gym my neighbor just joined is on the way home from work and I leave work so early that I have time to go. I figure he can berate me into going if I join up.
Tossing lumber certainly would do the trick!

I was like this at first and wouldn't go without the roomie (yay insecurities...) Now I don't really care and I've noticed that no one really pays any attention to what you're doing 99% of the time.
Also, YAY! Keep it up, even when you're hurting like hell. If you need any pointers, exercises to do etc. I can help ya out there.
Laura: My wife went from 200+ (I won't say just how much) to about 180 several years ago. Then in the past year and a half from 180 to 140.
You can do it, too. Go see the link on my site to Maura (Clean Eating Eve). She has helped me loose about 20 pounds this year.
My only piece of advice is this: If you miss a day that you were going to go, don't beat the crap out of yourself about it. Just go the next day and continue with your routine as normal.
Me, I don't have a gym that is very close so I workout at home using resistance bands and the P90X routine. So far, 30 lbs are off, only 35 more to go.
Took the bike out for a spin today.
Lard ass needs to go!
Mike - I have weird social anxieties about stuff like that. I don't do movies or restaurants alone, either.
North - Your wife's awesome. I'd already been following Maura's blog. :)
Instinct - I did that the last time, so I'm definitely avoiding it this time around. Thanks for the tip.
Weerdy - Good! I need to get mine out, too.
If you are wanting resistance bands, go with these ones, they rock

Missed my workout today though, not really happy about it, but I'll dive in tomorrow
please remember to stretch- many people jump in to training with both feet (which I applaud) but please take the extra 10 minutes to stretch properly either before or after your workout. for me, stretching has always improved my overall mood/general fitness levels.
don't let an avoidable injury delay you from your goals.
You CAN do it! I've lost 14 lbs in the last month, if I can get my fat ass out there, anybody can. :-)
Instinct - I've got a set, I just rarely use it. Thanks for the suggestion, though. :)
Mike - I do, already. :)
NFO - You're also a bit more active than I am, I think. My job's a sedentary one. Not that this is an excuse, mind...
Good deal Laura!
Now get out and go for a walk! :)
AAaaaaaactually, Jay, I went out just before lunch. :P Did one circuit around the building before the heat sent me back inside.
You should blog your weight/waist or send the numbers to somebody. I was doing that for a while and it kept me honest.
(I fell off, and need to get back on.)
I have an account on DailyPlate which tends to be the biggest eye-opener EVER, really.
You should buy a unicycle, ride it, and post pictures and video. It'd be good exercise and great entertainment for your blog readers.
You'd need a tophat, cane & a corset to round things out of course.
She would have to buy her own tophat, but could borrow the rest from you.
*snort*
OH YOU BOYS.
