I really don't know how to respond to this.

It's been two days since I read this post, and I still don't know how to respond.

I find myself disappointed that someone can so wholly misunderstand the point of Veteran's day...and speechless at how selfish her comments really are.

Please, someone fill my head with kittens and puppies or something equally fluffy and pleasant.

How about sloths? :)

Selfish is right. Veteran's day is about those who volunteered to put their lives on the line in service to their country. They deserve to be honored, not just on November 11th, but every single day.

And just because those WWII vets she knows "ignored" veterans day doesn't mean they don't feel a sense of honor & pride about being veterans.

Most vets I know are very humble about it and genuinely appreciate the recognition without actively seeking it out.

I have to say, #4 really pissed me off.

Sloths are cute. That'll work.

I agree. They need to be honored more than just one day a year.

I doubt she's capable of understanding the depth of their thoughts regarding WWII. I have a feeling she might dismiss their behavior - just because they ignore it doesn't mean it is meaningless to them. Something tells me she doesn't understand just what war does to a person.

I can't single any one point out as anger-inducing...the whole post infuriated me when I read it the other day.

Yeah. That one ticked me off too. I suppose you could blame the Aspergers.
Vets aren't ignoring it, they are just too humble to brag about it.

you know, sometimes i wonder if Asperger's is a contrived seems to give a whole lot of people license to be assholes.
