Pro-2A kickstarter in the works, needs our support!

Hey everyone.

I just received an email from one Ray Carter over at the Second Amendment Foundation regarding a pro-gun documentary that is currently in the works. They're looking for backers via Kickstarter, and I think this might be a worthy cause.

The email he sent me:

Dear Laura:

In the last 15 days, supporters of the 2nd Amendment pledged nearly $15,000 for support of the important new film “Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire” that exposes California as the front line in the civil rights battle between public safety and the 2nd Amendment. The Second Amendment Foundation and the Calguns Foundation have each contributed $5,000.00 to get this project off the ground.

As a blogger and the writer of "Insert Witty Title Here", you are at the cutting edge of communicating with the online Pro-2A community and we are asking you to join us in supporting this project. Your help is necessary to make this happen.

Please go to and make your pledge now. Also, of equal importance, we are asking you to reach out to your readers and let them know about this project.

Thank you for your support,

Ray Carter
Director of Development

I tossed a few dollars their way. I like the 2AF, and I like what they're doing for our community. They're doing a heck of a lot more than that massive organization that likes to harass the crap out of the lot of us, that's for sure...

So, if you've got a little spare cash available (assuming you've already supported the kilted guys, of course), consider it.

Kilted to Kick Cancer.

Hey everyone. Do I *really* need to tell you to support the Kilted guys? JayG, Stingray, Michael, Kelly, NFO are all doing it. So are a few others within our little bloggy community.

Go support somebody. Even if it's just a fiver tossed someone's way, it all helps. Go. Do it. Now.

Still reading this? What in the heck are you waiting for? GO!

Gary Johnson on Reddit NOW.

He's answering questions here, for now. He's already answered more questions than the President. Pity the electoral college won't give the guy a chance. through to the IAmA if you're curious. Ignore this completely if you aren't. :)

ETA: Here's a round-up of important questions answered. He answered others, as well. Nearly tripled the questions answered by the President.

Lots of people have said things far better than I could say them. Go, hit the sidebar, read their blogs.

Talk to me about AR15/M4gery SBRs.

Specifically: what uppers have you used? What's the process for building an SBR? At what point should I get a tax stamp for it? Should I set up a trust?

I'm starting research, and planning on actually starting to acquire parts either late this year or early next year. I will probably buy a completed upper, unless someone can justify the effort of putting together my own upper. I'm only moderately mechanically inclined. Putting together a lower wasn't difficult, but I don't know how well I'd do with an upper, especially with a lack of workbench.

Here's the plan thus far:
Go through York Arms for a lower
Get a Spike's upper (unless someone can suggest a better upper than one of theirs)
Trigger kit will probably be a DPMS set unless there's a better option out there.

Still trying to decide the stock I want to get. I'm VERY tempted to go the obnoxious route for this one...just because.

Someone famous is coming to town...

And he'll be signing books while he's here.

Anyone interested in joining me for the Elicott City signing?

New gun-friendly comic just got started.

For those of you who are fans of Two Lumps, the creators have started a new comic, Failure to Fire.

Says James,
I am a lifelong shooter. Fired my first .22 on my 5th birthday, grew up Mormon and went shooting often, hunted on a regular basis in my teens. Name a gun that’s on the American market, there’s a good chance I’ve put some lead downrange with it, including the .50 Desert Eagle, the Steyr Aug, the .50 BMG, and (once) an illegally converted Glock 17 Full Auto. (This was, btw, one of the worst firearms I’ve ever put my trigger finger to.)

More on his preference between the AK and the AR (and other stuff) can be seen here and here. I've met these people, and I like them. Go check it out. :)

I know most people support one of the two headlining candidates...

But this might be interesting to some of you. Gary Johnson will be answering questions on one of the biggest communities on the Internet. Might be worth looking out for his AMA. If he's any better than our current President, he'll answer more than 10 questions before claiming some lame excuse for running away.
